Research the customer’s alternatives
A competitor is not always a business selling an identical product. It can be the spreadsheet, manual process or combination of tools a customer uses today. Begin with the alternatives your audience actually considers, then examine how each explains its value.
MagnutAI includes a research workflow alongside strategy planning. Use it to develop questions and organize observations. Public information can be incomplete or outdated, so verify important details on the original page before building a campaign around them.
Compare the message behind the page
| Research question | What to record |
|---|---|
| Who is the page speaking to? | The stated audience and the problem emphasized. |
| What outcome does it promise? | The exact type of benefit and any supporting evidence. |
| How is the product explained? | Features, examples, workflows and buyer objections. |
| What makes evaluation easier? | Demos, practical guides, transparent limits and clear next steps. |
| What remains unanswered? | A question your own expertise could answer more usefully. |
Find a useful gap without copying a competitor
Suppose several tools emphasize fast content generation but give little explanation of how an agency handles client changes. An agency-focused page could show a concrete review process, distinguish comments from approval and provide a usable brief. That adds practical value rather than repeating the same speed claim with different wording.
Similarly, a product image page can answer how to preserve packaging accuracy instead of promising a perfect result. The opportunity is a clearer answer to a real buyer question, not a list of competitor phrases inserted into unrelated pages.
Keep claims and interpretations separate
Record the page address and review date for a competitor observation. If a vendor says it supports a feature, describe that as its published positioning unless you have tested the feature yourself. If a feature is absent from a page, do not conclude that the vendor lacks it.
Avoid invented traffic, search volume, conversion rates or market-share estimates. A useful comparison can explain how to evaluate products without pretending to have private competitor data. Current social analytics in MagnutAI should also not be presented as a competitor-benchmarking database.
Translate the research into an original brief
Choose the question you can answer with your product and expertise. Add a clear explanation, a representative example and the limits a buyer needs to understand. Connect that page to the relevant feature and a next step that actually helps the visitor.
See the MagnutAI and Holo evaluation guide and MagnutAI and Predis.ai evaluation guide for transparent comparison structures. Then use strategy planning to decide which insights belong in the next campaign.
